towbar

Remember to follow these steps when towing:

1. Lock the towbar coupler before towing and connect the safety chains.
2. Ensure that the ball is fully inserted into the coupler.
3. If necessary, use the adjustment nut inside the coupler to adjust the ball locking flange.
4. Use a drop hitch if your truck is too high to ensure that the chipper tows level and prevents the toolbox from hitting the road on low spots.

TANK SHUT OFF

When not in use turn your gas valve OFF.

CHASSIS

BEARING GREASE

NLGI 3 grease is recommended for large bearings, cutting drum shaft bearings, high ambient temperatures and the presence of vibration.

AXLE GREASE

remove end cap - use NLGI 2 grade grease for sealed hub bearings

HARDWARE

Check all hardware regularly as vibration may loosen hardware.

tire pressure

Front Tires = 30PSI   Rear Tires = 70PSI

HARDWARE

Check all hardware regularly as vibration may loosen hardware.

CHUTE LATCHES

Inspect all latches and pin lock when chutes are closed

toolbox

Inspect latch and pin lock when towing

cutting drum

blades

Flip reversable blade to new edge or replace when dull. DO NOT SHARPEN. Changing the cut angle and the cutting edge temper will reduce the performance of the tornatic machine and reduce blade life. Use ONLY OEM Blades available on Bigbear Power Parts Store. Always wear thick gloves when changing these razor sharp blades.
Use red loctite on the bolt threads and torque to 70-100 FtLbs

drum jams

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder to run the drum clean before turning off the machine. Make sure to clear out any chips and branches from the drum and feed chutes. If there are any stubborn jams, you remove the drum shaft cover and with the provided drum shaft tool turn the drum shaft counterclockwise to remove the chips. To help the chips slide out, you can spray some WD40 under the drum, but avoid using water as it can cause the chips to swell. Remenber to run the drum clean before shutdown and everything keeps running smoothly!

CUTTING ANVIL

Replacing and flipping blades requires no adjustment to the cutting anvil. In the event you replace the anvil, set the cutting gap to 1/16 inch before tightening all the anvil bolts.
